April 15, 2024

LemaEthiopia’s Sisay Lemma claimed victory in the men’s race at the Boston Marathon, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:06:17. Meanwhile, Hellen Obiri from Kenya successfully defended her title in the women’s race. Lemma, who recently achieved the fourth-fastest time in history with a 2:01:48 finish at the Valencia Marathon, took an early lead and maintained it throughout the race. Despite the chasing pack narrowing the gap, the 33-year-old managed to secure his second major marathon win following his triumph at the 2021 London Marathon.

Lemma’s victory solidifies his position as a top contender for the gold medal at the upcoming Paris Olympics. He crossed the finish line 41 seconds before Mohamed Esa, who came in second, and a remarkable one minute and five seconds ahead of the two-time defending champion Evans Chebet, who finished third.

The best-performing male athlete from the United States was CJ Albertson, who completed the race in seventh place with an unofficial time of 2:09:53.
